Year 5 Visit St Winefride’s Well

Year 5 spent a wonderful day at St Winefride’s well on Wednesday. Fr Michael led the children and staff in prayer and contemplation at this ancient site. This location is special to us all at St Winefride’s school and we hope we can follow in our patron saints example of being brave and positive.

Some of our children attended the BBC Music Event in Centenary Square on Thursday. They had a wonderful time as you can see from our gallery of pictures. As part of the event they sang and danced. Yet more evidence of the creative talent at our school.

Year 6 Roar Into Action

Year 6 are all set to stage the Lion King and to help pay for it they have made buns and sold them. As you can see from our gallery of pictures they had a great time making them and the rest of the school, including staff, had an even better time eating them! Look out for more information about their production after half term.

St Winefride’s Football Teams Strike For Glory

Both our football teams played his week in tournaments at Marley Sports Centre. On Monday our Year 4 team got all the way to the final with some magnificent goals and goalkeeping in fact we didn’t concede any goals in open play. The team only lost out on penalties in the final. Just look at this amazing goal by our keeper.

The Year 6 team topped their league to reach the quarter final stage. They won four games including some great defending and attacking. What a magnificent effort !

Year 5 Live As vikings

Year 5 spent the day as Vikings on Wednesday to kick off a new topic. They learned lots and even had to do some of the tasks a Viking villager would have been involved in. The children trained as guards, made clay pots and even collected wood for the fire. What a brilliant way to start new learning !
