Curriculum

Topic

In Nursery our topics change frequently in line with the interests of the children.

We embed our topics through all aspects of learning, including our Book of the Week.

Phonics

In Nursery we focus mainly on Phase One phonics.

Phase 1 concentrates on developing children's speaking and listening skills and lays the foundations for the phonic work which starts in Phase 2. The emphasis during Phase 1 is to get children attuned to the sounds around them and ready to begin developing oral blending and segmenting skills. Phase 1 is divided into seven aspects.

When your child is ready they will be introduced to phase 2 phonics which begins with s,a,t,p,i,n.

This term we are focusing on the aspects of rhyming, alliteration and oral blending and segmenting.
