Reading

Bug Club Reading

Bug Club reading is an opportunity for your child to explore a variety of books online, whilst also becoming secure within their book band.

Log in to www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/login?c=0 and input your child’s username, password and school code to access books allocated by the class teacher. You can also access Bug Club by clicking the Learning Platform link on this website.

Green Reading

Our new green reading scheme is aimed at encouraging a love of language and stories and to create opportunities for you and your child to develop a love of books and stories.

Our aim is for your child to be read to or for them to read at least 4 times a week.

All the children will have their diaries checked on Monday morning to see if they have been signed. If your child has read over 4 times they will be rewarded with a green reading certificate and a prize.  All the children will have the opportunity to have green parties to celebrate the majority of the class reading at home regularly.

Things you could do to help your child

Work on listening skills.

Practise segmenting and blending

Practise new sounds and graphemes.

Read to and with your child every day.

Look for familiar sounds and words in the world around you
